There is a famous quote that says “Happiness is a journey, not a destination”. This is absolutely true. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking, “When I achieve X, Y, and Z, I will be happy.” You don’t have to wait until you reach a certain milestone to feel an emotion! No matter who you are, is possible to feel happy right now.  Even when you achieve your dreams, there is always more to work on. And even if you get everything you want out of life, there will still be reasons to full unhappy and unfulfilled. So you might as well learn to make the most out of your life, and feel happiness as often as you can.

So, how does happiness lead to success? Think about all of the successful people you look up to. Every single one of them has a positive mindset. If those people thought, “I can’t do this”, then they would have stopped immediately before achieving anything at all. So, if you learn to incorporate ways to be happy into your life, it just might help you become more successful, too.

First and foremost, remind yourself that happiness is a choice. Of course, you are going to have days when you feel sad. You can’t exactly laugh at a funeral or smile after a bad breakup. However, most days of our lives are very normal, and should not have extreme emotions. (And, if they do, you might need to consider a lifestyle change.) Even in third world countries where people are struggling to find food and shelter, people still find reasons to be happy.
