Legendary Nigerian musician, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has stirred major controversy online following a recent statement about monogamy.
During an appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast hosted by controversial media personality Nedu, the award-winning singer stated that men are not naturally wired to be sexually committed to just one woman.
In 2Baba’s words:
“I have said this a couple of days ago, and I got into trouble for it but I didn’t care about that. Man no fits, I don’t know ooo but let me talk for my own self. I no go talk about other men.
“A man is not built to sexually be with one woman. Man can give his heart and love to one woman, but it’s impossible for a man to sexually be with one woman.”
The statement has since gone viral and sparked mixed reactions across different social media platforms, with many accusing the singer of using “male nature” to justify infidelity.
This comes just five months after 2Baba confirmed his separation from wife and actress, Annie Idibia, following years of public controversies surrounding their 13 year old marriage. Annie had previously accused the singer of repeated cheating and emotional neglect. She also revealed that he had fathered children with multiple women outside their marriage. This is a subject that has made headlines several times over the years.
Shortly after the separation news broke, 2Baba was seen cozying up with a new woman, identified as Natasha Osawuru, further fueling speculation about the real reason behind the split.
While some fans have defended the singer’s latest comment as “harsh honesty,” others believe it was both insensitive and disrespectful — especially given the history with Annie.
As of now, Annie Idibia has not publicly responded to the statement.
