After years of silence, Ezinne Akudo, former Miss Nigeria 2013, has finally put an end to the persistent rumour that has shadowed her name for almost a decade — the widely circulated claim that she was once married to Nigerian footballer Emmanuel Emenike.

In a recent interview that has since sparked conversations online, the lawyer and beauty queen made a bold and crystal-clear statement: she has never been married, let alone to Emenike.

I’ve actually never addressed that,” she began, acknowledging the speculation that has followed her for years. “But I’ve never been married.”

The interviewer, clearly taken aback by the unexpected revelation, reacted with disbelief — a reaction many fans likely shared. But Ezinne stood firm and unbothered, even doubling down with a surprising twist:

“No, you’re joking. That’s why I said this answer will shock you. The person in question, I have never met in my life. I’ve seen him because I attended his wedding. His wife was someone I knew.”

The rumour, which has been floating around since the footballer tied the knot with beauty queen Iheoma Nnadi in 2018, claimed that Emenike had previously been married to another Miss Nigeria, whom he allegedly dumped for Iheoma.

For years, many assumed that “mystery ex” was Ezinne Akudo — a claim repeated so often it began to take on a life of its own.

But now, Ezinne has finally decided to set the record straight. She continued:

“It’s gone on for like years now… The first time the story came out, I thought it was a joke. But then it kept popping up. Every few years.”

She admitted she initially chose to ignore the story, believing it would fizzle out on its own. But over time, it became more frustrating as the falsehood began to appear in Google searches, blogs, and even casual gossip circles as though it were a verified fact.

I never knew that the story would stick the way it did,” she said. “If you Google it, it’s there — like some confirmed truth. But I’ve never been married, never been divorced, and I’ve never met the person in question.”

The former beauty queen, now a lawyer and advocate for women’s rights, ended her remarks with a statement that perfectly sums up her feelings:

“I fear who no fear media.”

For many fans, her calm yet assertive response is refreshing — and perhaps long overdue. In an age where misinformation spreads like wildfire and false narratives can outlive the truth, Ezinne’s decision to speak up is a reminder of how damaging unchecked rumours can be, especially for women in the public eye.
