Sean “Diddy” Combs has been found guilty on two federal counts of transporting women across state lines for the purpose of prostitution, though acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

The verdict was delivered on Tuesday morning (July 2) after three days of deliberations by a jury of eight men and four women in New York, according to live courtroom posts by Inner City Press. Combs, 55, now faces up to 10 years in prison at sentencing. While he avoided convictions tied to operating a criminal enterprise or engaging in sex trafficking by force or coercion, the jury still found him culpable in lesser, but still serious offense.

During the seven-week trial, prosecutors painted the Bad Boy Records founder as the orchestrator of a decades-long scheme that weaponized his wealth, fame, and ability to exploit women. Testimony from men and multiple women detailed harrowing claims of sexual abuse, drug-laced coercion, threatening behavior, and forced “freak offs” — drug-fueled sexual encounters allegedly arranged or enforced by Combs.

Among the accusers were Cassandra ” Cassie” Ventura, whose testimony had been central to both the public conversation and the courtroom proceedings. Combs was ultimately acquitted on charges tied specifically to her and another unnamed accuser referred to as Jane, but was convicted for transporting both women for the purpose of prostitution.

Courtroom reports described a tense moment as the verdict was read aloud. “Juror Number 5” confirmed that the panel had unanimously reached a decision, prompting Judge Subramanian to read out the counts one by one: not guilty on racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking; and guilty on both counts of transportation for prostitution.

Following the verdict, Combs’ attorney requested his release on a $1,000,000 bond, proposing travel limited to Florida, New York, and Los Angeles. He cited Combs’ lack of prior convictions, his family’s presence in court, and a chartered plane waiting in Maui.

However, prosecutors pushed back strongly, pointing to evidence that Combs allegedly assaulted one of the women and had been found with drugs in his hotel room shortly before his arrest in New York. The government argued that he remained a flight risk and a danger to the community.

Judge Subramanian postponed a decision on Combs’ bail, requesting additional filings by 1 P.M. and noting that the court would reconvene later in the day to determine whether the music mogul would be released or returned to federal custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center. According to reports, Combs appeared visibly shaken as the court debated his immediate future.
