Nigerian singer Reekado Banks is pulling no punches in a new interview where he got candid about his personal life, emotional growth, and the darker side of the music industry.

In a revealing chat on The Esther Show, the Oluwa Ni crooner shocked fans when he disclosed that he is no longer sure about tying the knot anytime soon. This is despite previously expressing his intention to walk down the aisle before the end of the year. Reekado explained:

“In my last interview, which was two months ago, I was pretty sure about my stance. I said I would get married later in the year, but now I’m in a very different place,”

“So, I can’t say anything definite about getting married now. Back then, I was sure, but now I’m not.”

The singer, whose real name is Ayoleyi Solomon, emphasized that his change of heart has nothing to do with his music career. Instead, he chalked it up to personal growth and a better understanding of his emotional needs. Reekado continued:

“It has nothing to do with my music career. It’s about me and my emotional intelligence, which I’m still working on.”

Despite stepping back from immediate wedding plans, Reekado made it clear that he still believes in love and the institution of marriage. He cited his parents’ relationship as his blueprint, especially the bond they shared before his mother’s passing. The singer shared:

“Absolutely, I’m still open to getting married in the future. That’s the life I’ve always known because my parents were married until my mum passed away.”

But it wasn’t all soft talk. In the same interview, Reekado Banks raised eyebrows with a bold claim. He alleged that there is a powerful, unnamed figure in the music industry who has been exploiting young talents. According to Reekado:

“There is one big man in the music industry who is demonic and taking advantage of young talents. I have worked with him before. Other young artistes have also worked with him. I am not going to mention his name for now, but he knows himself.”

He continued with a warning:

“It will be nice to educate young artistes about this man so they don’t get wrapped up in his mess. Every artiste this man has worked with always has a certain setback and they find themselves in a mess.”

Though he withheld the name, Reekado’s statement has sparked speculation online, with many fans wondering who the industry heavyweight could be.

The 30-year-old star, who welcomed his first child with his British partner in September 2024, has been largely private about his personal life.

His music journey, however, is well-known. He rose to fame after joining Mavin Records in 2014 and exiting the label four years later to build an independent career.

Since then, he’s kept a steady presence in Afrobeats, releasing hits and maintaining a loyal fanbase, even as he navigates personal transitions behind the scenes.
