Fresh off their show-stealing wins at the 2025 Metro FM Music Awards, WOODBLOCK DJs — the boundary-pushing duo made up of Sicelo “ButterNutt” Nkomo and Mthobisi Vuma — are riding yet another high. Their breakout hit, the “Skuta Baba Remix,” has officially been certified Double Platinum, cementing its place as a cultural milestone in South African music.
But this isn’t just about numbers — it’s about impact.
The original “Skuta Baba” already had the streets talking, but the remix took things to a whole new level. Featuring a heavy-hitting lineup that includes Cassper Nyovest, Kwesta, Buzzi Lee, Tony Dayimane, Kane Keid, Mvelost, and Set Off, the remix became a masterclass in collaboration. Each artist added their unique flavour, creating a sonic collage of street energy, lyrical finesse, and unapologetic authenticity.
From clubs and taxis to playlists and TikTok feeds, “Skuta Baba Remix” became more than a track — it became a national wave.
“This remix was always meant to feel like the streets — raw, alive, and honest,” said Sicelo “Scelo” Nkomo, the lead producer behind the record. “Every artist brought their truth. Double Platinum is amazing, but the real reward is how many voices this song united.”
The duo’s manager, Xolani Majozi, CEO of SoldOut Media, sees the success as a sign of what’s possible for the industry at large.
“This isn’t just WOODBLOCK’s win — it’s a win for all of us,” Majozi said. “This plaque stands for more than just streams. It’s about collaboration, consistency, and culture. The future of South African music is collective — and we’re finally owning that.”
