Tyler, The Creator and Sexyy Red are blown away by a rendition of their collaboration, “Sticky.”

The Jackson State Tigers’ Sonic Boom of the South marching band took to the field on Saturday (Nov. 16) during a game against the Alabama State Hornets.

While the Hornet’s marching band performed their version of “In the Sanctuary” by Kurt Carr, the Tiger’s performance put the “boom” in Sonic Boom with a rendition of “Sticky.” Loud, brash, stylish, and unashamedly Southern, the Sonic Boom of the South brought the house down with their performance, getting the crowd on their feet, waving towels, and thrusting their fists. And they weren’t the only folks moved by the “Sticky” big band remix.

Tyler and Sexyy Red took to X/Twitter with their reactions to the rendition, blown away by the composition. “THIS IS WHY I MADE STICKY!!!!!! THIS IS WHY I ARRANGED IT THAT WAY. THIS BEAUTIFUL MY HEART IS FILLED,” the CHROMAKOPIA rapper typed on the platform, while Sexyy simply typed, “This so raw!!”

Upon the release of Tyler’s eighth studio album CHROMAKOPIA, “Sticky” quickly became a fan-favorite. The posse cut features Sexyy, GloRilla, and Lil Wayne, with additional vocals from Solange. Tyler sampled Young Buck’s “Get Buck” for the song’s triumphant horn section towards the second half of the cut.

As for CHROMAKOPIA itself, the album has continued to make history since its release in October. The LP moved 104,000 album-equivalent units in its third week, giving the project enough to stay at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

With three consecutive weeks on the chart, Chromakopia is now Tyler’s longest-running No. 1 album, surpassing his 2021’s Call Me If You Get Lost—an album that spent two weeks at No. 1. Chromakopia also became Tyler’s third consecutive and overall No. 1 album, following Call Me and his 2019 effort Igor.
