Elsie Okpocha, the estranged wife of popular Nigerian comedian Basketmouth, recently took to her Instagram story to rant, seemingly accusing her ex-husband of brainwashing their child.
The evidently angry mother who faces the challenge of parenting her teenage son, who is now 16 years old posed a question on parenting online.
Elsie questioned if it’s normal for a mother to have access to her 16-year-old child’s phone or she’s overstepping her boundaries.
In another post, Elsie revealed that her estranged husband instructed their son to hide his password from her, thus denying her access to his phone. Accusing him of trying to frustrate her, the mother of four said her only crime is trying to be happy. She wrote:
“I need an answer….is a mother not supposed to have access to her 16yr old’s phone?????
How are you still trying to frustrate her efforts cos she has decided to be happy??????
Tell me why a father should tell his son of 16yrs!!!!! 16!!! not to give his mother his password??????.”

Basketmouth and Elsie were once Nigeria’s most beloved celebrity couple but in 2022, after 12 years union, Basketmouth announced the end of his marriage to Elsie on his Instagram page. He assured to peacefully co-parent with her in caring for their children and pleaded with the public to respect their privacy.
WITHIN NIGERIA earlier reported that one of Basketmouth’s daughters, Amy Okpocha, had in a light hearted video called him out on social media for dancing on the internet. She jokingly said her father’s action is embarrassing the entire family.
