Nicki Minaj‘s lawyers claim allegations of her physically assaulting a former assistant have no weight. According to Rolling Stone, a lawsuit was filed against the Queens rapper last week by plaintiff Brandon Jovan Garrett, accusing Minaj, legal name Onika Maraj-Petty, of “assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.”
The outlet detailed an alleged incident as told by Garrett in the filing that occurred during the Detroit stop of the 2024 Pink Friday 2 tour at the Little Caesars Arena. He claims that after he was slapped by the Grammy-winner, he locked himself in a bathroom until 4:00 a.m. and immediately left the midwestern city back to his Los Angeles hometown upon exiting the facilities.
The entire ordeal allegedly stemmed from Minaj being upset with Garrett for having another staffer pick up her prescription.

“Are you f**king crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your f**king mind, and if my husband was here, he would knock out your f**king teeth. You’re a dead man walking. You just f**ked up your whole life and you will never be anyone, I’ll make sure of it,” the 42-year-old allegedly yelled at Garrett.
Garrett continued to claim that Minaj “abruptly stood up, stomped her feet and walked aggressively” toward him before she “open-handedly struck” him on the right side of his face, “causing his head to swing backwards and his hat to fly off of his head.”
According to Variety, Nicki Minaj’s lawyer, Judd Burstein, said she had not yet been served with the lawsuit at the time of reporting.

“At this time, no complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty, and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations,” Bernstein writes, per Variety. “However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that the matter brought by this ex assistant will be resolved swiftly in Mrs. Petty’s favor.”
The Detroit concert originally resulted in headlines after surprise appearances from Big Sean, and Sada Baby. During the show, Minaj was also the target of an item flung from the crowd, nearly hitting her on stage.
The item, launched during a rendition of “Starships,” was hurled back into the audience by Minaj, who beckoned for the person who initiated the back-and-forth before finishing the performance.
