This week’s Los Angeles wildfires have officially grown to become the most destructive fires in L.A. history, and the affects of the natural disaster are continuing to be processed in its aftermath. Countless residents have been urged to evacuate their homes to move to safer locations with updates now steadily pouring in from people who discovered their homes did not survive the blazes. Late Thursday morning (Jan. 9), Jhené Aiko revealed she lost her home completely, as it “burned to the ground” and she’s now focusing on “starting from scratch.”
“Praying for everyone this morning,” she wrote on Instagram. “Those who lost their home. those who lost their life’s work, those who lost their life. praying for my city. praying for the wild life and lost pets. praying for the world. let suffering be a gift; a lesson in compassion.”
In the next slide, the singer revealed her house is no longer standing but she’s grateful that she and her family are safe. “Me and my children’s home is gone. burned to the ground with all of our things inside. Lord have mercy. Thankful we still have eachother. starting from scratch. My heart is so heavy,” the mother of two concluded.

The two longtime collaborators welcomed their child together in November 2022. “After 24 hours of labor, a total lunar eclipse, and while it was pouring rain… he came. my baby Yoda, my Sani,” the “Stay Ready” singer captioned her post at the time.
According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire, the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles has grown to cover nearly 27 square miles, while the Eaton Fire has killed five people and burned more than 16 square miles and destroyed almost 1,000 structures. The fires have forced 100,000 people from their homes. It has left more than 350,000 energy customers without power as of today, including residents in L.A. County, the most populous county in the country.
