After the 2023 edition was held in Atlanta, Georgia, the prestigious Headies Awards is set to return to its home ground, Lagos, Nigeria, for its 17th edition on April 5, 2025. The announcement was made by the Executive Producer, Ayo Animashaun, in a statement on January 20.

Animashaun revealed that this year’s ceremony will be more than just an awards show, describing it as “packed with an extraordinary lineup of events, culminating in a week-long celebration of the industry’s growth and artistic ingenuity.”

The Headies, which have recognized excellence in Nigerian music and entertainment since their inception in 2006, had their 16th edition on September 3, 2023, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia. But for 2025, the Headies is not just coming home but adding a twist with the introduction of ‘The Headies Festival’. This new initiative will feature activities that showcase the rich diversity of Nigerian music, entertainment, and culture.

Festivities will kick off on March 29, 2025, with The Headies Stakeholders Brunch and the Nominees Party, creating momentum for the grand finale on April 5. Specific details about the hosts, venue, nomination list, and special performances remain under wraps.
