Soulja Boy stands firm in his decision to perform during an event with ties to President Donald Trump.
The rapper, as well as Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross, took the stage at the inaugural Crypto Ball in Washington, D.C. which according to Reuters, celebrated the inauguration of Trump and his commitment to major changes in crypto policy. Although POTUS did not attend the black-tie affair, executives from crypto companies including Crypto.com, Kraken, and Exodus were in the building.
Swag gifted to almost 1,500 attendees included “Make Bitcoin Great Again” red hats, and American flag pins with the symbol for Gemini, a crypto company that served as an event sponsor founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, who backed Trump’s presidential campaign.

As news spread of the Hip-Hop lineup, Soulja Boy and the others faced critique for aligning themselves with the President whose MAGA platform includes racist rhetoric among other predatory policies. Taking to Instagram Live, the “Crank Dat” performer questions, “Did Kamala call my f**king phone?”
“Them ni**as they paid me a bag, ni***a” he yelled on the broadcast captured by The Shade Room. “[Barack] Obama ain’t ever put no money in my pockets, ni**a. Kamala [Harris] ain’t never no money in my motherf**king pockets, ni**a. Trump put money in my pockets, ni**a… Did Kamala call my f**king phone? Did Obama call my motherf**king phone? Did any of y’all ni**as call my motherf**king phone?”
He continued, “F**k you mean, I do whatever the f**k I want. It wasn’t even a Trump event – Trump wasn’t even there. Y’all so worried about, ‘He performed: him, Snoop, and them.’ Kamala didn’t even win, ni**a. Y’all want me not to answer the phone on the motherf**king president? Y’all can suck my d**k and cancel me all day.”
Nelly also defended his decision to appear, yet the St. Louis rapper appeared to have patriotic motives beyond the money.
“I respect the office,” detailed the 50-year-old per USA Today. “This isn’t politics. The politics, for me, it’s over. He won. He’s the president. He’s the commander-in-chief of what I would like to say is the best country in the world.”
He continued, “It is an honor for me to perform for the president of the United States, regardless of who is in office,” adding, “I support the president of the United States, regardless of who’s in office. I respect the office,” when asked if he supports Trump.
