The Roots are taking it back for a handful of shows celebrating their early days of stardom. In a video shared on Instagram, Questlove and Black Thought announced six shows over three nights during a residency at Blue Note in New York City in honor of the 30-year anniversary of Do You Want More?!!!??!

From March 13-15, the band will take the stage with performances at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. each night, performing music from the era, but not the album in its entirety. The announcement features a clip of the video for the track “Proceed.”

“It’s where it all begin,” shared Black Thought in the clip. “We’re not doing the entire Do You Want More?!!!??!,” added Questlove. “We going back to 1995, 96… What we will do is have fun with it.”

“So uh…..for the 30[t]h Anniversary of our major label debut…..we are doing SIX early Roots era focused shows,” Questlove continued to elaborate on Instagram reposting the promotional flyer from the band’s account. “Yall better riggety rawl & cop them tix cause uh…”

The Roots released Do You Want More?!!!??! in January 1995 and reissued a deluxe version of the album in 2021 with previously unreleased songs, remixes, and more. With decades in the game, fans of the group may be able to anticipate a new album this year.

In the Questlove Supreme podcast last year, the host revealed Common and Pete Rock’s 2024 Grammy-nominated The Auditorium Vol. 1 has inspired him and Black Thought to release a new album.

“I believe that this particular album will spark a renaissance,” shared the Philadelphia native of the aforementioned collaborative effort, per HipHopDX. “Not to be outdone, my band has been sitting on the sidelines watching all this action happening and, you know, it’s made us… I will say that it’s made Tariq [Black Thought] into — the motherf**ker wrote seven songs in one day! We have not done that since our second album.”

He continued to detail, “I know the exact date when I want to release it, and it’s not 2024. But it’s a very seminal 2025 date that will make sense once it comes out.”
