Ye has never been lacking in self-belief, so it should come as no surprise that he believes he can defeat any rap artist in a battle, including the formidable Kendrick Lamar.

During his latest interview with Justin LaBoy, Ye made his respect for Lamar clear, declaring that he believes most, if not all, other artists in Hip-Hop would fall short in a lyrical exchange with the Compton, Ca. native.

He even went as far as likening the chart-topping wordsmith to an unbeatable video game character. “If you rap against Kendrick, you will lose,” West said when speaking of K.Dot’s current reign of dominance.

“This man does this. You know on Street Fighter, you get like a Chun-Li, you get a certain kick, and no matter what, you can’t beat that thing.”

The 47-year-old referenced previous statement made by Joe Budden while continuing to warn of waging war against Lamar. However, he went on to allude to being uniquely equipped to duel with the GNX creator.

“Joe Budden said, ‘Never rap against Kendrick Lamar.’ If you rap against Kendrick Lamar, it’s a difficult task, but perhaps there’s something — I’m a psycho genius so it could be…” Ye added, his voice trailing off.

When Laboy then reiterated Ye’s sentiment regarding being wary of battling Kendrick, the Chicago native presented himself as the exception to the rule, countering, “Unless you’re a psycho genius like me.”

Despite his confidence regarding his ability to be competitive with Kendrick, Ye appears to have a deep respect for his artistry.

He featured Lamar on his The Life of Pablo cut “No More Parties In L.A.” several years ago and was one of the more vocal supporters of his onslaught against Drake, even joining in on the gauntlet by throwing his own “Like That” remix.
