Drake has been reveling in love overseas all month with his Anita Max Win Tour spanning Australia and New Zealand. Unfortunately, the 38-year-old rapper’s global victory lap will temporarily end as he has postponed the remaining dates due to a “scheduling conflict.”
The Toronto superstar’s team confirmed the cancellations in a statement shared with Rolling Stone. “Due to a scheduling conflict, four of Drake’s 16 sold-out shows in Australia and New Zealand will be postponed,” they wrote. We are actively working on rescheduling these dates and adding some additional shows. All tickets for the affected shows will remain valid for the new dates. Refunds will be available for those who prefer, but please note that as these shows are sold out, any refunded tickets will be released for sale.”
His team apologized for the inconvenience and expressed gratitude for the fans’ patience. They also highlighted how enjoyable the overseas trek had been, which has been evident in the many videos that have circulated throughout social media all month. Drizzy continually reiterated that he did not want to go another eight years without touring Australia again, so time will tell when the postponed dates will be rescheduled.
This is an unfortunate bump in the road for Drake, who has been having a pretty strong February. The five-time Grammy winner released $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, a collaborative album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, on Valentine’s Day. The 21-song LP featuring Chino Pacas, Yebba, and Pimmie debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold 246,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.
$$$4U became the father of one’s 14th No. 1 album, allowing him to tie JAY-Z and Taylor Swift on the list of most No. 1 albums; the trio trails the Beatles, who stand above the rest of the pack with 19. This album was also PND’s first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and the biggest first-week sales performance of his career, nearly quintupling the 50,000 album-equivalent units moved by 2016’s P3 and 2020’s PARTYMOBILE.
As far as the Billboard Hot 100, Drizzy’s solo songs “Gimme A Hug” and “Nokia” charted the highest at No. 6 and No. 10 respectively. The highest charting song featuring both artists was “CN Tower,” the album opener, at No. 18.
