Since Nipsey Hussle‘s tragic murder, countless artists have upheld his legacy over the years through acts of homage or by adding verses to their records. His brother, Blacc Sam, recently revealed that Hussle’s first posthumous album will come out this summer.
Sam appeared on Power 106 LA’s Brown Bag Morning Show and shared that the album will be a joint project he recorded with Bino Rideaux before he died. “If Hussle didn’t actually do the verse or work with the person or put together the blueprint for the project, we not doing it,” he stated. “He did something with Bino, and there’s a new project that we’re about to release. This was a project that he had with Bino that was pretty much like 80% finished.”
Sam told the Brown Bag crew they had a few loose ends to work through, but the album is almost ready. “So the team kind of came in, got some unreleased verses and music that he had done with Bino and just tightened it up,” he said. “It sounds amazing. It should be coming out around this summer. The team is real excited. We just finished going over all the stuff for the last three weeks with everybody.”
Nipsey Hussle has had a significant presence in music since his death via posthumous verses. In 2019, Rick Ross featured him on “Rich Ni**a Lifestyle” alongside Teyana Taylor, and Mustard gave him a solo effort on the title track for his 2019 album Perfect Ten.
In the following year, Big Sean added him to “Deep Reverence” from his LP, Detroit 2. In 2021, Hussle appeared on “What It Feels Like” alongside Jay-Z as part of the Judas And The Black Messiah soundtrack. That same year, he joined Pacman Da Gunman and Mozzy on “Zero Tolerance.”
Nipsey was properly celebrated at the 2020 Grammy Awards, receiving the Best Rap/Sung Performance award for “Higher” with DJ Khaled and John Legend and Best Rap Performance for “Racks In The Middle” with Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy. Revisit his “Racks In The Middle” music video below.
