Cam Newton has finally voiced his opinion on his former teammates’ cheating scandal. Newton released the latest episode of his 4th&1 With Cam Newton podcast on Thursday (Feb. 27) where he unloaded on Tony Martinez for taking to the internet with his marital issues.
“I’m a keep it a big buck like I only know how to do: Steve Smith did you a favor, bro,” the ex-NFL player asserted. “What Steve Smith got going on, that’s what Steve Smith got going on but in yo household he did you a favor bro. He identified who you was actually married to. She ain’t loyal to you, she don’t belong to you… Steve Smith… did what he was supposed to do. ‘She threw it, I caught it: I’m a [wide] receiver… you must ain’t seen my resume.’”
Newton then said that it’s not Smith’s responsibility to look out for another man’s household. Cam asserted that it’s the woman’s “responsibility to set the boundary” and that Nicole Martinez committed a “breach of contract.” The athlete then explained that he needs Tony to “get your wife in order” because it’s “in a man’s nature” to keep a stronghold on their household and maintain order. The 35-year-old ended his rant on the matter by calling out those who are up in arms about adultery but aren’t concerned about themselves dishonoring any of the other Ten Commandments.
If you missed it, Steve Smith Sr. was caught in the eye of a cheating scandal. In mid-February, a man named Tony Martinez ran to social media with accusations aimed at the former Carolina Panthers star, asserting that he had engaged in an affair with his wife, Nicole Martinez.
Sharing a string of sexually charged text messages between Nicole and Steve, Tony posted an accompanying video of him calling and pressing the athlete over his actions. “Yeah, you been f**king my wife, bro,” Martinez said in the video. “What you gotta say for yourself?” A voice resembling Smith then mumbled “sorry,” to which Tony demanded that the NFL analyst “man up.”
Smith and Mrs. Martinez have remained silent on the ordeal, with neither saying anything about the incident.
