K.O Shares Key Insight On Building Strong Artist-Manager Relationships

In a recent social media post, the Sete hitmaker stated, “As an artist, if your manager goes with everything you say 100% of the time then you don’t have a manager, you have a stuur boy (errand boy).”

K.O went on to stress the importance of having a manager who actively challenges creative decisions, pushing an artist to refine their ideas and make strategic moves. “If your manager openly challenges some of your creative ideas and plays devil’s advocate at least 50-90% of the time, then you have a business partner – keep him/her close.”

This perspective sheds light on the evolving dynamics of artist management, particularly in an industry where longevity is built on calculated decisions and not just raw talent. K.O’s words resonate deeply, especially as he has maintained an influential career spanning over a decade, adapting to industry shifts while staying relevant.

His statement also serves as advice to rising artists who may prioritize loyalty over constructive criticism. A manager’s role extends beyond just securing deals—it involves shaping an artist’s brand, challenging their vision, and ensuring long-term success.

With K.O gearing up for a new album release in 2025 and a fresh drop to close off the year, it’s evident that his team operates with strategy at its core. His approach to business continues to set a standard for artists navigating the competitive world of hip-hop.
