  • The Senate has been in complete turmoil in recent days, with tensions reaching a boiling point between Akpabio and Natasha Akpoti.
  • From Natasha’s claims of being deliberately sidelined to her explosive accusation of sexual harassment against the Senate President, the scandal has sent shockwaves through the nation, forcing people to take sides.
  • As tensions mount and the Senate remains on edge, Kate Henshaw stepped forward, threw her weight behind Natasha in a bold show of solidarity.

Nigerian actress Kate Henshaw has openly backed Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as her sexual harassment allegation against Senate President Godswill Akpabio continues to spark nationwide uproar.

In a bold statement of support, Henshaw took to Instagram on March 5, shared a striking image of Akpoti-Uduaghan while honoring her as her “Woman Crush Wednesday.”

She highlighted the systemic hurdles women face, in leadership, all walks of life, praised Natasha’s audacity to defy silence and speak her truth.

She wrote, “We forget so readily how far we have come. We forget our lineage, our history, our strength. We are told we are weak, we are spineless, and cannot think.

“We accept the new role foisted on us, the subtle submission imposed by religion, by society, by tradition. They tell us we cannot govern, we cannot rule, we cannot make our own decisions. They tell us to shut up and sit down.

“Women like children are to be seen not heard. Do you not know that in nearly all species, the female is much more deadly than the male?

“We are the offspring of countless women-warriors!!”

The tension traces back to February 2025, when the Senate floor became a battlefield. It began with Akpoti-Uduaghan’s fierce protest against the sudden reassignment of her seat.

On February 20, she stood her ground, refused to move despite direct orders from Akpabio and the intervention of the Sergeant-at-Arms.

In a shocking turn, she accused Akpabio of making unwanted advances toward her during a visit to his residence in Akwa Ibom on December 8, 2023.

According to her, rejecting him came at a steep price, her motions, particularly those on corruption in the Ajaokuta Steel Company, faced relentless obstruction.

The fallout was swift. On March 1, Ekaette Akpabio, wife of the Senate President, struck back, filed two defamation lawsuits at the Federal High Court in Abuja, demanding N350 billion in damages.

She claimed Natasha’s allegations had caused unbearable emotional and psychological distress to her and her children, escalating the saga into deeply personal territory.
