Xzibit is backing Kendrick Lamar in his battle against Drake. The storied West Coast emcee appeared on Bill Maher’s Club Random Podcast, where the two men talked about “Not Like Us.” Maher pushed back against the idea of Lamar throwing around “serious allegations” regarding the Canadian artist, but Xzibit asserted that all is fair in the art of battling.
The former Pimp My Ride host spoke about Drake’s past “suspect” interactions with young girls as an example of why K. Dot’s infamous bar landed well with audiences, even though the accusations weren’t proven.
“I have no idea about what he’s doing with his boy, you know, that don’t sound right,” Xzibit said regarding Drake calling himself a Certified Lover Boy. “I just know that’s where that comes from, that clip. And then he was talking to the Millie Bobby Brown girl about relationship sh*t.”
The 50-year-old entertainer then went on to compare the battle to the biblical tale of David vs. Goliath, framing it as a way that sees Kendrick Lamar as the underdog against pop’s darling.
“What you’re seeing and why people are celebrating it so much is that this big, huge machine and this so-called rapper from Compton… Yes, he has success, but he’s not as big as his [Drake],” X to the Z added.
As Bill attempted to recenter the pedophile claims as the focal point of the conversation, the Man vs. Machine artist pushed back, reiterating that there are no rules in a rap battle—something that Maher couldn’t wrap his mind around.
“No. Are you kidding?” X exclaimed. “This is a rap battle! This is not a testimony or deposition. This is a f**king rap battle. I’m going to talk about your mama, your daddy, your children, your grandma’s wooden leg, your missing teeth. It’s all a game, right?”
“If there was something weird going on, then there would definitely be people that would come forward and testify, and then people would be charged for that. But when you’re playing the dozens, and I give you one that hurts your feelings, don’t be the guy who wants to fight because I got a good joke.”
