Kandi Burruss‘ upscale restaurant, Blaze Steak & Seafood, is facing legal trouble as the restaurant’s landlord claims it owes a hefty sum in unpaid rent and repair costs.

Montego Pacific Inc., the property owner, filed a lawsuit in Fulton County State Court on Monday (March 3) alleging that the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star and her establishment owe $154,139.17. In addition, the suit claims Blaze owes another $56,495.75 for property repairs, along with a 10 percent overhead fee.

Per the suit, if the back rent isn’t paid, Burruss could be looking at an additional $12,083.50 per month in accrued interest. Neither Burruss nor her legal team have yet to address the lawsuit. Montego Pacific has reportedly given her 10 days to settle the outstanding balance before further legal action is taken.

The Xscape singer/songwriter and actress opened Blaze Steak & Seafood in Atlanta in 2020 with her husband, Todd Tucker. The couple also owns Old Lady Gang, a Southern comfort food eatery in Castleberry Hill.

Although Blaze has received great reviews — scoring a 93 with the Georgia Department of Public Health in 2023 — Old Lady Gang has had some negative feedback from its consumers.

Aside from Tamar Braxton straight up saying the food there is “nasty” in 2023, popular food critic and viral TikTok sensation Keith Lee also shared a disappointing encounter at the restaurant. Known for his candid and unfiltered reviews, Lee revealed that despite being “invited” to visit, his family left without being served.

The former MMA fighter explained that he initially sent his family inside to place a to-go order, only to be denied due to Old Lady Gang’s policies. They were also informed that the wait for a table exceeded an hour.

However, he claimed that when he walked in, a table was suddenly prepared and set to be ready in just five minutes.

“As always, I don’t want any special treatment. I wanna be treated like everybody else,” explained Lee. “I pay for my food like everybody else. I’m a normal person. I’m a normal customer. Things like this is exactly why I do reviews the way I do.”

In response, Burruss addressed the situation professionally, acknowledging the food vlogger’s visit while explaining the restaurant’s policies.

“I’m about to speak on it. No, I’m joking. I’m not about to speak on it,” she quipped before continuing. “I just really want to say, I do appreciate Keith Lee for stopping by our restaurant and trying to show us love. It is very unfortunate that we couldn’t serve him and his family.”

She elaborated on the restaurant’s weekend policies, stating, “On the weekends, we get a lot of community support, people in our city that show up for us, as well as a lot of people from out of town. So, with that being said, we don’t want to overwhelm our kitchen by having to, you know, have such long times for the people who are actually at the restaurant, plus having to do to-go orders.”
