In 2024, Joe El Amadi opened up about the unexpected struggles he faced, not because of his talent, but because of his uncanny resemblance to music icon 2Baba.

Speaking on the Hoha podcast, Joe El revealed how his lookalike status became a curse rather than a blessing, shut doors that should have been wide open. He claimed that some music executives and media personalities actively blocked his rise, seeing him as nothing more than a shadow of the legendary singer.

According to Joe El, presenters at Cool FM and Sound City, along with an event planner at the 2013 Festac Carnival, denied him opportunities, branded him an imitator rather than an artist in his own right.

He recounted how a Sound City presenter even confronted him directly, boasted that he had personally ensured his songs were blacklisted, simply because of his resemblance to 2Baba.
