Keefe D Sheds Tears While Claiming His Innocence In 1996 2Pac Murder

Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the man charged in connection with the 1996 murder of rap legend Tupac Shakur, became visibly emotional during a recent interview in which he continued to maintain his innocence.

In a clip posted online by The Art of Dialogue, Davis, who remains at the center of one of hip-hop’s most notorious unsolved cases, insisted that authorities lack the necessary evidence to convict him.

“They ain’t got no evidence. They don’t got nothing. They know they don’t have nothing,” he said about his alleged involvement in the infamous drive-by shooting.

“They can’t even place me out here [at the time of shooting]. They don’t have no gun, no car, no Keefe D, no nothing. Everybody on video but Keefe D. This is wrong, man,” Davis said, his voice filled with frustration.

Prosecutors declined to respond directly to Davis’ claims but remain confident in their case, asserting that they have built a strong foundation for conviction.

They continue to view Davis, an admitted former gang leader, as a central figure in the murder plot that led to Shakur’s death.

In the interview, Davis reflected on his hopes for the future, expressing disappointment over the impact of his legal troubles on his family.

“I thought I was gonna do college with my grandkids. They’re pretty good athletes,” he said, lamenting the time already lost due to this legal battle.

He also claimed to have made significant and positive changes in his life, stating, “Eighteen years later, I did everything they asked me to do. Get new friends, stop selling drugs. I stopped all that.”

Despite his emotional plea, Davis did admit regret over past statements he made related to the case. “I shouldn’t have said nothing. I shouldn’t have said nothing. And I’m innocent, man. And God got my back and God will see me through this.”

Davis is set to stand trial in February 2026.
