Joey Bada$$ Shares Fatherhood Advice He’d Give Himself

As Power Book III: Raising Kanan just returned for its highly anticipated fourth season, Joey Bada$$ has stepped back into the role of Unique — the charismatic, yet ruthless street boss navigating the treacherous streets of New York in the ’90s. However, beyond his on-screen role, the Brooklyn-born rapper and actor will soon be stepping into a whole new role in real life: fatherhood.

In a recent interview with VIBE, Joey gave an interesting response when asked about entering the new territory. He actually gave himself advice speaking from the perspective of his character Unique, who’s storyline includes him potentially fathering a child with Raq (Patina Miller) this season.

“I think Unique would say find as much time to spend with your family as possible,” Bada$$ advised. “I think in his position, that’s always kind of at the back of his mind, and I think we’ll see a little bit more of how that plays out for him this season.” Similarly to his own life, the 2000 rapper acknowledged that Unique’s world rarely allows for quality time at home, something that has already shown its consequences for him in past seasons. “I think that would be a piece of advice I’d hear from him.”
