Misa Hylton has seemingly addressed the status of her friendship with Mary J. Blige, one week after news broke of the stylist suing her former client and friend for $5 million.
Hylton took to Instagram Sunday (May 4) with a repost of a meme reading, “I NEVER LOST A REAL FRIEND. LET THAT SINK IN.” Fans immediately took the cryptic message as a subtle reference to the current state of their friendship, as the singer and fashion pro have been besties for over 30 years.
“Now Misa….I love you girl, but this ain’t it. Y’all aren’t just friends, y’all are sisters. I pray y’all can get back cause this hurts me,” offered one fan within TSR’s comment section, with another adding, “After 30 years that’s fake baby. Just say yo sis hurt ya feelings and move around.”

Hylton’s quote could possibly be a reaction to Blige’s own subtle quip, as she posted about “getting rid of” friends who are not “good investments” last week.
“If people don’t reciprocate your love, time, and energy they are not good investments. Get rid of them asap and take care of you,” Blige insisted, adding, “Love You!” followed by a heart emoji.
Hylton filed a $5M lawsuit against Blige last week for allegedly attempting to sabotage her business relationship with rapper Vado. According to Hylton, Vado signed her as a manager months before signing a record deal with Blige. The singer then allegedly removed Hylton and her M.I.S.A. Management from all emails concerning Vado and attempted to persuade him to dump Hylton as his manager during “private yacht gatherings, hotel meetings and exclusive events.” Blige is also accused of shelving Vado’s completed album until he cuts ties with Hylton.
“Misa Hylton and Mary J. Blige, they’re not just friends, they’re non-biological family, probably closer than blood family, and it’s very unfortunate that this had to go down like this because Misa tried everything to amicably resolve the issue with Mary directly, with Mary’s camp,” Hylton’s lawyer, Nicholas Ramcharitar, told Lauren Lorosa of The Breakfast Club shortly after the suit was filed. “But unbeknownst to us why, Mary J. Blige and her camp completely cut off Mrs. Hylton.”
He later added, “It’s like all of a sudden you have a sister you been with forever, and 40 years later all of a sudden your sister stops talking to you and you don’t know why.”
