Unexpected medical challenges can be tough to navigate, and the circumstances are heightened when the financial needs in the situation are just as dire. Rondell Sheridan, the actor most known for his role as the father in That’s So Raven, shared a health update with his followers and asked for assistance with his medical bills.

The 66-year-old provided the details of his condition in a minute-long clip posted to his Instagram. “Hey friends, it’s Rondell Sheridan here,” he began. “On April 10th, I was in the road and got sick. They thought it was gastric. I got home on the 12th and immediately went to the hospital at North Ridge. I was told it’s pancreatitis. Tons of tests. I was in the hospital for nine days. I got released and thought I was on the road to recovery but… my pancreas is inflamed.”

Sheridan closed by requesting financial help from his viewers and directing them to a GoFundMe link he set up. “I didn’t realize I will be out of work for quite some time. I’m setting up this GoFundMe to help with some of my medical bills and just expenses. If you have anything that you could donate, I’d gladly appreciate it. Thank you so much,” he said.

The comment section flooded with well wishes from his supporters. “Get well soon mr Baxter ???? one of my favorite Disney channel Dad’s,” one of the top replies reads. “Oh nah Unc, get well soon!!!!!!” another person typed.

Donations can be made via this GoFundMe link. As of publication, he has raised $21K out of his $35K goal.

Born and raised in the South Side of Chicago, Sheridan focused his career as a stand-up comedian during the 1980s. In 2003, he landed the role of Victor Baxter, a chef and father of Raven Baxter, in the massively successful That’s So Raven series on Disney Channel. That character spawned roles in spinoffs Cory in the House and Raven’s Home. In recent years, he returned to his comedy roots and has embarked on multiple comedy tours.

Sheridan recently reunited with his TV daughter on Tea Time w/ Raven-Symoné & Miranda last month. During the podcast episode, they delved into his dating life, their relationship as former co-stars, life after the show, Orlando Brown, and much more.
