After being arrested in London last week over an alleged assault that occurred in 2023, Chris Brown has been freed on bail. The singer posted a $6.7 million bail following a hearing on Wednesday (May 21), and the amount would be forfeited if certain conditions are not met or he does not make it to his next court appearance, the British Press Association reported.
Prior to this update, many people were assuming Brown would have to miss the first dates of his upcoming Europe tour, which was set to kick off on June 8 in Amsterdam. He was previously denied bail once before.
The “Run It” singer was not present in court for the bail hearing and has not yet been asked to enter a plea in the case, per NBC.

BBC reports his next court date is June 20 — between shows at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium — and he has been ordered by Judge Tony Baumgartner to surrender his passport unless it is being used for tour purposes.
Breezy is accused of “causing grievous bodily harm” by throwing a tequila bottle at a man in a Manchester club back in 2023. The alleged victim is producer Abe Diaw, who claims Brown also stomped on his head while he was on the ground, rendering him unconscious, and chased him as he tried to escape.
The 36-year-old talent was in the UK for his current tour and was taken into custody at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester. “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said. “He has been taken into custody where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”
