Megan Thee Stallion has announced that she has her own anime series coming to Prime Video in partnership with Boondocks producer, Carl Jones.
She revealed the news at DreamCon on May 30 while cosplying as Bleach character Yoruichi Shihōin.
“You ain’t never seen an anime like this ever in your life,” teased the Grammy-winning rapper.
Meg did praise her collaborator while keeping further details under wraps. “Shoutout to [Jones]. We really did our thing,” she noted. “We took a long time putting this together and it’s finally coming, so you can only imagine how we coming with this anime. Megan Thee Stallion and Carl Jones? What the hell!”
Thee Hot Girl’s love of anime was been evident for years. Back in 2020, she collaborated with Crunchyroll to create an anime-inspired streetwear capsule collection to promote her hit record, “Savage.”
Around that time, she also spotlighted her connection to anime with Crunchyroll.
“I’m half anime character, half rapper,” she explained. “I like how you see a character, and it starts off, he’s not really the strongest, he might be a little weak, but he has to go through all this training. You grow with the character. You see all the trials and tribulations they go through. Then you meet new people along the way that help them become the person he needs to be. I apply that to my life a lot.”
Billboard hinted that Megan’s anime series may “follow a fictionalized version of [her] life or music career,” but that’s unconfirmed. Her documentary, In Her Words, also has elements of anime and it’s currently available on Prime Video.
