Following her celestial performance at the 2025 Roots Picnic in Philadelphia — where she captivated the crowd with a medley of her biggest hits like “Essence,” “Love Me JeJe,” and “Free Mind” — Tems also found herself addressing negative online comments about her body.

Dressed in a sleek gray and black ensemble during Saturday’s show (May 31) of the two-day festival, the global superstar’s curves were on full display as she swayed effortlessly across the stage. One viewer, however, chose to focus on the size of her backside — comparing it to previous online commentary instead of the performance itself.

“Real one knows she just have big laps not actual a**,” the person wrote on X with a clip from her set.

Fed up with the conversation surrounding her body, Tems fired back calling the critic “weird” and mocking other negative remarks that have been made in the past such as “It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat.”

“Okay 7 years in. It’s time to pack it up,” Tems began. “I never thought I’d need to say it but you are all weird ‘It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat.’ Dog ITS MINE. ‘Show us your bumbum’ lol so me too I will turn and say ‘see’ [heart emoji].”

Continuing to mock the commenter, she added, “Nah show ME yours first?? See how that feels? It’s just a body I will add and lose weight. I never once hid my body, I just didn’t feel the need to prove or disprove anyone. The more you don’t like my body the better for me actually. But it’s enough now. Move on from my bum.”

The naturally curvy Nigerian singer spoke on her body and growing confidence in the November 2022 issue of Dazed magazine, where she defended risqué photos of her. In the publication’s The Beautiful Issue, Tems took a few snaps in fishnets and other sexy apparel that raised eyebrows among her more conservative fans.

In a series of Tweets following the premiere of the issue, Tems let critics know that her morals are not determined by the photos she takes and that she is “not here to uphold your beliefs about God.” She wrote on X at the time, “I don’t know who needs to hear this but I am not your Christian savior. I didn’t come here to uphold your beliefs about God. I will not fit into this box you try to put me in. I won’t satisfy you in that area please find the person that will. Or ask yourself why you care.”

Speaking to her personal evolution and growing her confidence over the years, she added: “So much growth this year. I’m here for my fans. I have worked so much on myself. It will all make sense when it happens. I started in 2018. Look at what music looks like today. Still Next level coming. I’m just about to start.”

She ended her rant with a meme of a scene from A Raisin In The Sun where Denzel Washington slams the door in a man’s face.

She captioned the image with, “I just a baby!! I’m gonna show off. You don’t like it? F**k you from the bottom of my heart [praying hands].”
