The wins keep piling on this week for A$AP Rocky as the ink has dried on his latest leadership position contract. The Harlem rapper was announced as Ray-Ban’s creative director, making history as the first person ever to hold the role for the popular eyewear company.
“Today, we are welcoming A$AP Rocky into our family; he’s a visionary artist and creator,” says Ray-Ban president Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio in a statement, per Billboard. “His ability to push the boundaries of the diverse worlds he explores, aligns with the Ray-Ban DNA. We are reinforcing the brand’s values of innovation, pioneering spirit, and courage. Let the future begin!”
The “Peso” artist didn’t just rise to stardom solely for his music, as fans gravitated towards his fashion sense as well. His latest display of personal style was magnified over the last few weeks through the “courtroom fits” he wore during his gun assault trial. Fittingly, he rocked Ray-Bans multiple times throughout his court appearances.

Fans noticed the intentional correlation. “Wore ray bans all trial then popped out as the cd. ngl that’s hard,” one person said on X. Another person crafted an impressive pun, typing on Instagram, “Ray ban realized he was being framed this whole time.”
On Tuesday evening (Feb. 18), Rocky was declared “not guilty” on two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
The highly publicized trial was held in Los Angeles and consisted of three weeks of testimonies and arguments that ended last Friday (Feb. 14). The charges stemmed from a November 2021 altercation with former friend A$AP Relli, who alleged that Rocky confronted him outside a Hollywood parking garage, threatened him at gunpoint, and shot at him.
The Testing rapper’s attorney Joe Tacopina said in his closing arguments that the “Peso” rapper was carrying a prop gun, a claim that was backed by associates like A$AP Twelvyy and A$AP Lou. Tacopina also accused Relli of “destroying evidence” by deleting relevant text messages. Watch the full video of the verdict being read above.
“Thank y’all for saving my life. Thank y’all for making the right decision,” Rocky told jurors as he walked out of the courtroom, per legal reporter Meghann Cuniff. See the moment below.
