Adekunle Gold responds as critic calls him “broke and ugly”

Famous Nigerian singer and songwriter, Adekunle Kosoko better known as Adekunle Gold has responded to a critic who made a snide comment about his physical appearance. 

The critic, identified as Dami Foreign on the microblogging X platform shared a throwback picture of Adekunle and his wife Simisola Kosoko mononymously known as Simi and questioned how the singer managed to win her heart despite being “broke and ugly”. The post on X read:

“How did Adekunle Gold win Simi’s heart when he was broke and ugly?”

However, the ‘Party No Dey Stop’ hitmaker responded, by quoting the post with a simple caption:

“I was never ugly”.

Gold rose to fame on the back of his hit song ‘Sade’ and a high-life cover of One Direction’s ‘Story of My Life’ in 2015.

The singer has received numerous awards and recognition for his craft.

He was signed to YBNL, a record label owned by Olamide in 2015 but exited in 2022.

In March 2023, he was signed to Def Jam Recordings. He also owns a record label called Afro Urban Records.

Gold and Simi tied the knot in 2018 and welcomed their first child, Adejare in June 2020.
