While Tory Lanez was convicted in the shooting trial of Megan Thee Stallion, he’s yet to give up hope on release, recently finding support from several stars after news of him being stabbed 14 times while behind bars surfaced.
The Unite The People press conference that followed found the artist’s reps arguing that they have “new” evidence that could potentially set him free, though Megan’s lawyers have asserted that said evidence was already presented at trial. Lanez’s team also claims that a bodyguard for Kelsey Harris — Megan’s former best friend who was also present the night of the shooting — came to them stating that he heard Harris confess to the crime.
The conference also resulted in a change.org petition created to get California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s attention in hopes that the state official will pardon the Canadian rapper.
While stars like GloRilla and SZA have come out in support of Megan following Lanez’s latest claims, others seem to be siding with the crooner currently serving a 10-year sentence. Amber Rose most recently argued on Tory’s behalf during an interview with NewsNation. Drake, Kodak Black, Ye, and others have also publicly acknowledged their support of Lanez being released.

Amber Rose

“He’s 100 percent exonerated from the gun,” Rose told Chris Cuomo. “He deserves to be pardoned by Governor Gavin Newsom.” Cuomo then reminds Rose that the DNA on the gun did not exonerate Lanez, as the DNA evidence was inconclusive, not exclusionary. “The DNA showed it could’ve been any of four people,” Cuomo reminded Rose. Expert testimony during trial also indicated that the DNA is more likely to belong to a male, decreasing — but not eliminating — the likelyhood of Kelsey Harris being the shooter.
Rose also insisted that Lanez’s text apologizing to Megan the night of the shooting was not over the shooting itself. “I heard the whole story from Tory’s mouth, he called me personally from prison, and I now understand why he said ‘sorry,’ and it’s not for any shooting at all.
Lanez previously claimed that the apology to Megan was for sleeping with both her and best friend Kelsey at the same time.

“I was wrong,” Gilbert stated during a recent interview on BHighTV. “I jumped on the bandwagon without fully understanding the case.” She later added, “I want to say this. If there was evidence that was suppressed. If there was any possibility that Tory did not do this, that man deserves a retrial.”
