Reinforcements from the South African National Defence Force will be deployed as COVID-19 infections surge in the province.

Acting Health Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane says the SANDF medical staff will help with the COVID-19 response.

Meanwhile, South Africa recorded 10,510 new infections and 118 deaths.

It’s Gauteng that’s really suffering, as it recorded 6,969 of the new cases.

The total number of deaths is 58,441.
