Afro+ Fest is making a thunderous return to the global stage, and this time, Washington, D.C., is the epicentre. On August 31, 2025, the RFK Festival Grounds will host a genre-blurring lineup that pulls together the pulse of African music, Caribbean heat, and U.S. hip-hop swagger — with Asake and Gunna leading the charge.
Following a successful debut that lit up New York City with massive crowd energy and cultural crossover moments, Afro+ Fest is building on its momentum with an even more dynamic cast of artists. HEADLINERS include Asake (Nigeria’s street-pop juggernaut) and Gunna (Atlanta rap royalty). Main Stage Artists: Machel Montano, Shenseea , Uncle Waffles, Shatta Wale, Wande Coal, Gabzy, TXC, and DJ Tunez along with special surprise guests. Alternative + Rising Talents:
Lami Wonder, Tobby Drillz, Adwoa, Dipo!, Laik, Meka Luxx, Teestinx, and Zay Ade — all representing a new wave of pan-African diasporic sound. Hosts: Bilal, Ini Cash, Justin UG, Kwasi Beast, and Marvella bring comedy, crowd control, and culture to the stage.
Afro+ Fest is a curated experience spotlighting Black joy, music, and identity. While the “Afrobeats to the world” conversation often focuses on individual artists breaking out, Afro+ Fest is one of the few platforms dedicated to celebrating the genre and its branches as a cultural movement. It brings together Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora, proving that rhythm is a shared language.
Last year’s edition featured surprise appearances and spontaneous crowd moments that went viral, from pop-up dance circles to backstage cyphers. With a much bigger venue and a wider lineup this year, 2025 promises to be even more unforgettable.
