With many American fans making note of Beyoncé showing up (with special guests) and showing out in London and Paris for her Cowboy Carter Tour, several eyes were on her first show back in the states, which happened to be in her hometown of Houston.
Unfortunately, the talk surrounding her Saturday (June 28) show centered on a major prop malfunctioning, as the flying car Bey rides in as she closes out the show to “16 Carriages” malfunctioned mid-flight, leaving the singer dangling in the air as the car tilted above the crowd.
Taking the moment in stride, Bey returned to the stage after being lowered that night, telling concert-goers she knew they would’ve caught her if she fell. She later posted a snap of the leaning vehicle to her Instagram and scored a second post to fellow Houston native Paul Wall‘s 2005 classic, “Sittin’ Sidewayz.” See both post below.
The flying car was out of commission for Beyoncé’s Sunday (June 29) show, with the singer deciding not to sing “16 Carriages” at all. While a few fans expressed disappointment within her comment section, most were happy to see the car “impounded.”
“KEEP THE CAR PARKED!” exclaimed one fan, as another wrote, “The car finally got impounded thank you for taking it out.”
Others made note of Bey’s sense of humor regarding the matter, despite her safety being at risk, with one fan writing, “Omfg Beyoncé don’t play with us like this, we were concerned.” A second fan wrote, “At least she can kiki about it now,” while Love & Hip Hop’s Bambi commented, “Ok girl we wasn’t fkn laughing at all. But we can relax now.”
Beyoncé continues the Cowboy Carter Tour on July 4 in Landover, Maryland before moving on to Atlanta for four shows, and wrapping up in Las Vegas on July 26.
