Beyoncé’s stunned reaction to her historic win at the 2025 Grammys for Cowboy Carter last night (Feb. 2) has instantly become meme-worthy.
The 43-year-old global superstar was visibly shocked when Taylor Swift announced her transcending eighth studio album as the winner for Best Country Album, catching Bey completely off-guard. Dressed in a striking gold Schiaparelli Haute Couture paisley gown with bandana-inspired details, the “American Requiem” singer froze in place—with her eyes darting around the room in disbelief.
In all love and admiration, fans wasted no time turning the hilariously, historic moment into a wave of relatable memes.
“Me every single day of 2025 so far,” one X user joked as another echoed, “Me when something good actually happens in 2025.” Another fan wrote, “When you hear your name on a Zoom call and weren’t paying attention,” as a fourth said, “just found out that ‘jelly roll’ and ‘teddy swims’ are not the same person.”
Despite the surprise, Queen Bey quickly composed herself and took the stage to accept the award.
“I’d like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album. We worked so hard on it,” she began. “I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about and to stay persistent.”
As the most decorated artist in Grammys history with 34 career wins, Beyoncé concluded her speech by expressing gratitude to her “beautiful” family, collaborators, God, and devoted fans. “This wouldn’t have been this album without you. … I still am in shock, so thank you so much for this honor,” she said.
Before even stepping into the venue, Beyoncé had already secured Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus. To make the night even more historic, Beyoncé finally claimed Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter—a victory long overdue after years of being overlooked.
Backstage, the living legend spoke with Entertainment Tonight, where she described the moment as “very surreal.” She went on to note that it’s been “25 years of working really hard” and “trying her best” to “keep growing and keep opening up doors.”
Bey also expressed how elated she was for her daughter, Blue Ivy, to witness that moment for her. “I’m so happy that she was here. And Rumi, who’s on the album—my youngest daughter—she was watching, I forgot to thank her, so I get to thank her now. Thank you Rumi.” The mother-of-three went on to express how “honored” and how “seen” she felt as the country community has “opened its heart” and accepted her country album. See below.
