Nigerian singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, popularly known as Spyro, opened up on the difficulties of living as a celebrity in Lagos.

Reflecting on an unpleasant experience, Spyro shared how the pressures of fame often manifest in the form of constant financial demands.

The artist, best known for his hit song “Who’s Your Guy,” recounted a particular incident where a man insulted him after he promised to assist him the following day but was unable to do so at that moment.

Spyro.

This experience, he noted, was just one of many that highlight the overwhelming expectations placed on celebrities in the city.

Spyro also revealed the financial burden of his celebrity status, stating that he spends at least N100,000 every time he leaves his house, with an annual expenditure of around N15 million.

He lamented that wherever he goes—whether it’s a restaurant, church, or even just using his phone online—he is bombarded with financial requests, but few consider the toll it takes on him.

In his words;

If I enter restaurant, Billings go dey wait me outside, I enter church, same thing…Enter estate, same, carry phone enter online, na same same.

“Everybody wants to take, but nobody dey give you and nobody thinks of how you are faring.

“S/O to every one of my colleagues out there going through this, y’all are the real MVPs and I celebrate you.”
