Rod Fergusson, General Manager of Diablo 4, has revealed that the game is receiving two expansions. In an interview with Kinda Funny Games, Fergusson discussed Diablo 4’s live service model, which allows for huge upgrades and ongoing support.
“We’re on the verge of launching the main game, wrapping up season one, working on season two, developing expansion one, and laying the groundwork for expansion two,” Fergusson revealed. “All of this is happening before the game has even been officially released.”
According to Fergusson, Blizzard could have done more with Diablo 3 content updates, which is why they chose a different strategy for Diablo 4 as a live service game. He reassured fans that this game will have robust support and a much fuller season than the previous version.
Diablo 3 and a version launched earlier, Diablo 2, each saw one major expansion. Diablo 4 already has two expansions in the works. So the game is off to a good start.
In a recent blog post, Blizzard outlined their post-launch plans for Diablo 4. After Friday’s Early Access period, the game is now fully open to all players.
