Complete with a cap-and-gown ceremony onstage and fresh off a courtroom loss the day prior, the controversial rapper was awarded with honorary degrees in Music Composition and Music Management from Kingdom Heritage University.
“You have carried your story raw, honestly,” said the presenter. “Your pain has not been wasted, your platform has a purpose. Your legacy is just beginning. We know your name as Lil Boosie, heaven will now know you as Dr. Hatch.”

The following day, the Baton Rouge native became emotional on Instagram while speaking on the sentimental feat after losing the appeal in his firearm possession case from 2023.
He was arrested after being caught with a firearm on Instagram Live and was subsequently charged with possession of a weapon by a felon. Prosecutors successfully appealed the case, overturning the prior dismissal.
“Ima be fighting these people again, these feds, but I got my faith up,” Boosie expressed. “And it’s crazy ‘cause I was down down Friday, and yesterday is Saturday. Heritage University made me a doctor. That’s how God works. Like, I’m a doctor. Doctor Hatch. I’m a doctor, dog. This s**t crazy. This s**t feel like— I wanted to cry.”
He added, “One thing happen and they can never take this away from me. One thing happen, another blessing coming […] We normal people; we be goin’ through it just like y’all.” The 42-year-old later shared a photo of his youngest child to mark the celebratory occasion.
