German auto parts supplier Bosch said on Tuesday it has inaugurated a new software hub in Shanghai, China, its third innovation center dedicated to the research and development of digital cockpit and driver assistance technologies in the country. Part of the company’s goal to develop in-car features tailored for Chinese consumers, the 10,000-square-meter (107,639-square-feet) facility involved an investment of more than RMB 150 million ($21 million) and will employ about 540 engineers. On Nov. 16, the German giant said it secured the first pilot customer for its advanced driving system, co-developed with Chinese self-driving startup WeRide and scheduled for delivery in late 2023.
