WNBA superstar Brittney Griner and her wife, Cherelle, have given fans a first glimpse of their son, Bash Griner — whom they welcomed in July.

The proud moms recently shared family photos on Instagram, showing off Bash, his hunter green nursery and a few mommy necessities including his luxury Stolleria stroller and nursery chair.

The Griners also spoke with CBS Mornings about their shoot, saying, “Family shoots have become a team effort. It’s a series of smiles, tears, feedings, and naps. We love every second and can’t wait to take our first Christmas pictures as a family.”

Brittney, 33, previously shared on The Today Show that becoming a parent has been a transformative experience, saying, “My world changed.”

Speaking of being away from him during the WNBA season, she added, “It is hard leaving, but at the same time, he’s gonna grow up in a sports family, so he’s gonna understand. What he’s really worried about right now is just sleeping and milk time.”

For Mother’s Day this year, Brittney wrote a heartfelt tribute to her wife Cherelle for carrying their son. “This Mother’s Day is hitting a little different as I watch my beautiful wife create life,” she gushed. “Happy 1st of many Mother’s Day baby, I love you! & Happy Mother’s Day to my Mother in law. You created one spectacular woman that I get to share and cherish life with, thank you.”

This joyous milestone for The Griners comes after a turbulent chapter in the Phoenix Mercury player’s life.

The basketball star made international headlines in 2022 when she was detained in Russia after vape cartridges were found in her luggage at a Moscow airport. Griner, who was in Russia during the WNBA off-season, was sentenced to nine years in prison.

However, after 10 months in detention, she was freed in a high-profile prisoner swap. Since then, the athlete and prison reform advocate has written a book titled Coming Home, where she details her harsh imprisonment in Russia and coming home to her wife.

“We had to learn how to be together, but then also had time to heal away from each other too, a little bit,” she told NPR. “Some of the things that we loved doing before changed. I used to love being in the house all day and the room … all day watching TV, watching shows. And that was triggering for me because in the detention center, all I could do was sit on my bed for the whole entire day, minus one hour outside.”

“So, I couldn’t do it anymore like that. … We keep the house cold. I hate being cold now,” she continued. “I was agitated, I was just off and … we realized that me being cold put me back in that cell. So it was just like little things … and we made the right corrections.”

Take a look at The Griner’s biggest blessing above, baby boy Bash.
