Casandra Fine, commonly referred to by her stage name Cassie, shared alarming testimony against former boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs in the Hip-Hop mogul’s criminal trial. While on the stand, the R&B singer accused the Harlem native of forcing her to call him an incestuous nickname as she described the “freak-offs” she was allegedly forced to participate in.
“He wanted me to have a nickname for him,” explained the 38-year-old. According to PageSix, the line of questions came with an email transcription between the former couple, where she referred to him with a specific endearing phrase. “He asked me what I called my grandfather, and I said I called him Pop Pop.”
On the stand, she explained that she thought the request was “weird at the time,” but reflected on the demand and clarified, “But now I think it’s just disrespectful.”

Beyond the nickname, the “Me & U” performer’s time on the stand included disturbing accounts of her time under Combs’ alleged control. Under oath, Fine described the events that resulted in the physical violence she suffered at the Harlem native’s hands.
In the 2016 hotel video footage revealed last year, Combs is seen slamming Fine to the floor and kicking her repeatedly as she attempted an escape. The 55-year-old’s legal team attempted to ban the clip from the courtroom, however, the judge ruled that the prosecutors were allowed to show the jury.
“Within the first year of our relationship, he proposed this idea,” she explained to the courtroom, of how the “freak-offs” began. “This sexual encounter that he called voyeurism, where he would watch me be in intercourse with a third party, specifically with another man.”

According to CBS News, Israel Florez, who worked as a security officer, testified about the violent incident. Florez shared that he responded to a call about a woman in distress and found the couple in the hallway, with Combs telling her, “you’re not gonna leave.” The former U.S. Army reservist and current Los Angeles Police Department officer continued to claim the Hip-Hop star threw money at him and demanded, “Don’t tell anyone,” but he did not take it.
BBC reported Florez testified that he noticed purple bruising around Fine’s eye and asked if she wanted to call the police. He claimed that he said no and insisted on just leaving. As he returned to talk to Combs, he noticed that the hotel manager’s phone had been taken due to the Grammy winner’s fear of being recorded.

Combs and his legal team claimed his innocence and portrayed the alleged acts as a debate of morality, not criminal activity.
“The only people who knew about a racketeering enterprise are the prosecutors,” detailed defense attorney Teny Geragos. “This case is about Sean Combs’ private personal sex life. The government has no place in his private bedrooms. They say it is not about his private sex life, but the evidence will show that it is.”
“We will not shy away from the things he did, but we will not own the things he did not do,” Geragos told jurors. “He is physical, he is a drug user, you may know of his love of baby oil. Is that a federal crime? No!”
