Nigerian music star, Davido Adeleke, has shed light on the growing trend of Nigerians opting to give birth outside the country.

According to the singer, this practice is not only about accessing superior medical care but also serves as a strategic move for securing future opportunities for their children.

During a recent appearance on The Morning Hustle podcast, Davido likened giving birth abroad to purchasing an insurance policy.

He explained that children born in foreign countries often gain citizenship, which opens doors to better education, healthcare, and a wider array of opportunities.

He noted that the trend is particularly common among the upper and middle classes in Nigeria, who view it as a way to bypass visa application challenges for their children.

Giving birth abroad is a common trend among Nigerians. Apart from having better [medical] facilities overseas, people want to have their kids abroad to save them the hassle of applying for visas,” he said.

This comes amid a noticeable increase in the number of Nigerians choosing to deliver their babies overseas, aiming to secure dual citizenship for their children.

In other news, Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has credited his wife, Chioma Rowland, for inspiring his decision to consider marriage.

The singer disclosed that without Chioma, marriage would never have been on the cards for him.
