  • After facing accusations and a lawsuit for money laundering and a slew of other charges, Jude Okoye’s legal battle with the EFCC has officially commenced.
  • A video captured him stepping into the court premises, with the gritty details of the proceedings disclosed.
  • Amid the unfolding drama, Cynthia Morgan, whose lingering grievances against him remain palpable, took to social media, delivering a stinging jab at him

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has hauled Jude Okoye, the elder brother and former manager of Paul and Peter Okoye of the defunct PSquare duo, before the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The high-stakes arraignment, centered on staggering allegations of money laundering involving N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.

Jude, alongside his company Northside Music Ltd, faced Justice Alexander Owoeye on a seven-count charge.

A fresh video surfaced, capturing him entering the court premises, flanked by EFCC officials, a stark image of a man now on the sharp edge of the law.

Channels TV pieced together the courtroom drama, where one charge alleged that in 2022, Jude and his company acquired a property at No. 5 Tony Eromosele Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, worth N850 million, despite knowing its link to unlawful proceeds.

Another charge accused him of funneling over $1 million through a bureau de change and dispersing it into multiple accounts to shroud its origins.

Unflinching, Jude pleaded not guilty. The prosecuting counsel, Larry Peters Aso, pushed for a trial date and sought his remand in a correctional facility.

Defense counsel Inibehe Effiong countered with a pending bail application, asked that Jude remain in EFCC custody until the hearing.

Aso fired back, painted a grim picture of overcrowded EFCC cells and pressed for his transfer to a correctional center.

Justice Owoeye, however, set the bail hearing for February 28 and fixed April 14 for trial. In a swift move, he ordered Jude’s remand at the Ikoyi correctional facility.

Amidst this unfolding saga, Cynthia Morgan, who once publicly accused Jude of denying her royalties and stifling her career, saw her moment.

With a blend of irony and vindication, she took to social media, throwing a biting jab. She wondered how Jude’s once-private feud with his brothers, Paul and Peter, had spiraled into this public legal storm.

She wrote;

Matter wey person suppose settle for house.God forbid (Tudiyi)”.
