Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial has taken several twists and turns over the last six weeks, and now the court proceedings are seemingly coming to a close soon. The mogul is facing several serious charges, but as of today (June 25), prosecutors have indicated that they are abandoning various accusations.
In a letter to the judge filed Tuesday (June 24), obtained by Fox News, the government wrote “the theories of attempted kidnapping, attempted arson and aiding and abetting sex trafficking will not be pursued.”
“The Government understands the Court’s desire for streamlined instructions. With that in mind, the Government has suggested ways to streamline those instructions… Specifically, the Government has removed instructions from the charge relating to (i) attempted kidnapping under both California and New York law, (ii) attempted arson under California law, and (iii) aiding and abetting sex trafficking. The Government is no longer planning to proceed on these theories of liability so instructions are no longer necessary.”

Yesterday, the Bad Boy founder’s defense team rested their case after making arguments “for only about 20 minutes,” according to BBC. They showed a “quick presentation” mostly consisting of messages from the mogul’s ex-lovers, in a continued attempt to show they were willing participants in his “freak-offs.” They also did not call any witnesses to the stand, and Diddy himself decided to not testify.
Prosecutors called dozens of witnessed to the stand over the last few weeks, including Cassie Ventura and her mother, Kid Cudi, Combs’ former employees, and more.
In a brief exchange with Judge Arun Subramanian, Diddy said, “I’m doing great, your honor. I’ve been wanting to tell you thank you, you’re doing an excellent job.”
Combs has been charged with racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution, maintaining his innocence. He was arrested on Sept. 16, 2024, and if convicted, Combs could face 15 years to life in prison.
