There have been countless stories of people having rough experiences when in jail, especially celebrities or those with heinous charges. So, with Diddy spending 8 months in prison and being on trial for racketeering, sex trafficking, and more, how did his fellow inmates react to his recent verdict?

People recently reported, via his legal team, that the 55-year-old artist was met with a standing ovation after returning to Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center following being acquitted of his major charges. Marc Agnifilo, his lead attorney, told the publication that his fellow inmates viewed what is to be considered a legal victory for their team as a sign of hope for themselves.

“They all said, ‘We never get to see anyone who beats the government,’” Agnifilo told People. Puff could have spent life in prison if convicted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, but now he looks at a potential maximum of 20 years in prison for his two convictions of transportation to engage in prostitution. There is also the possibility that his sentence gets reduced due to time served.

Agnifilo also shared what the controversial mogul’s mental state is after the almost two-year experience. “He’s doing okay,” he said. “[He] realizes he has flaws like everyone else that he never worked on. He burns hot in all matters. I think what he has come to see is that he has these flaws and there’s no amount of fame and no amount of fortune that can erase them. You can’t cover them up.”

The Bad Boy founder had to face his flaws head-on when he was denied bail once again, with Judge Arun Subramanian citing his legal team owning up to his domestic violence against Cassie and the threat he could pose to the public. He will remain in custody until his sentencing, which is set for Oct. 3.
