There are some unfortunate souls in the world who have never experienced the entertainment, animation, and unpredictability that come from church services. DJ Yella, a founding member of N.W.A, recently shared his experience expelling a demon during worship.

The 62-year-old posted an Instagram video showing him standing next to a pastor who gave him props for giving his life over to Christ. The Compton DJ eventually entered into some form of a trance while the pastor said “Uh oh” and proceeded to pray over him. From there, Yella’s body became stiff and he grunted before the pastor yelled, “Release him.” Finally, he yelled for several seconds signifying him releasing a demon from his body before he exited the trance and returned to normalcy.

“A demon comes out of DJ Yella when the pastor says the word ‘manifest,’” he wrote in the caption of his Instagram post. “You’re Now About To Witness Something Real: And The Power Of GOD!!!” he added, flipping the opening line from N.W.A’s 1998 classic “Straight Outta Compton.” Watch the moment below.

“How did yella end up at church??!?” one fan asked in the comments. Another commenter wanted to experience the type of deliverance DJ Yella went through for himself, writing, “Wat church is it bro I would love to visit seriously.” Other fans weren’t so convinced by the spectacle.

“Lol are we serious right now?” one user asked. “Man stop the shenanigans,” another user wrote with a laughing emoji. Another user went longform in analyzing what the moment meant for Yella and his origins with N.W.A. “Ok I believe this could be a deliverance,” they wrote. “N.W.A was one of the 1st rap groups to sell their souls to the devil; they literally shifted rap music to talk about drugs and the disrespect of women and on a deeper level this perpetuated and glorified the issues within our community, issues purposely placed here via the Caucasian colonizers.”

The explanation did not stop there. “On a deeper level, the C.I.A. shifted drug culture/addiction shifted from rock and roll to rap hip hop with the initiation of N.W.A, a large part because of Nicaragua, the Contras and Russian influence within Nicaragua military influence. It’s too deep for a IG post but Do YOUR RESEARCH. These things are all connected, trust and believe the God within.”

This phase of DJ Yella’s life isn’t new. He chronicled his time in N.W.A. and his transition to a God-fearing family man in his 2021 memoir, Straight Outta Compton: My Untold Story. He even opened up about directing and producing over 300 pornographic films. “Women was my thing,” he told AllHipHop, clarifying that he wasn’t doing this due to any sexual deviancy. “It wasn’t drugs, it wasn’t alcohol—it was women. I loved women. But this was all business. It wasn’t like I got excited. No, it was just business. It was nothing but that—just like music.”
