Doechii Issues Comical Response To Viral Met Gala Video

Doechii hopped on TikTok and used a trending meme format to respond to controversy surrounding her Met Gala debut. On Tuesday (May 6), fans debated whether or not the Grammy winner was rude when she raised her voice at staff and demanded umbrellas from them in an attempt to hide her fine-tailored look from paparazzi.

The rapper took a lighthearted approach to the situation, as she described the moment as “overstimulating.” In the clip, the Florida musician raises her hands as The Commodores’ track “Easy” plays in the background. The song has been used on the app by various accounts with the same format, with users jokingly addressing their behavior. “God forbid a girl needs more umbrellas,” exclaimed Doechii across the screen.

The 26-year-old used the caption to share a more serious response.

“All jokes aside this was such an overstimulating night but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!” exclaimed the “Alter Ego” performer. “This was the night we all dreamed of and my team killed it (umbrellas aside),” she wrote with the loudly crying and woozy face emojis.

In the original viral clip, Doechii can be heard yelling for more umbrellas in a chaotic lobby scene. As previously mentioned, her Louis Vuitton Met Gala look was almost spoiled by paparazzi before she arrived to the red carpet.

She also took to Instagram stories regarding the controversy. On Wednesday, she shared a screenshot of the TikTok. In the next slide, she wrote a longer message.

“And all jokes aside I’m so so so proud of my glam team and the LV team for an incredible night!” she detailed. “We’ve been dreaming about this Met for a long time and the theme this year is such alignment with who I am what I stand for. it’s nothing but God that this year was our debut. Everyone killed it. We nailed the theme. and a time was had,” she closed with the umbrella emoji.
