Drake Accompanies Morgan Wallen At Houston Show, Internet Reacts

Drake found himself on the negative side of discourse this weekend, despite not releasing a song or making any cheeky social media posts. The Toronto superstar accompanied Morgan Wallen to the stage for his Houston show, much to the chagrin of the internet.

The 32-year-old singer is on the road for his I’m The Problem tour, supporting his LP of the same name, and was amid the second night (Saturday, June 21) of his set of Houston shows. As he walked to the stage, fans viewed a large LED screen that showed Wallen connecting with legendary MLB pitcher Roger Clemens. They were later joined by Drizzy, who exchanged a handshake with the “I Had Some Help” artist before taking sips from a flask.

The country singer uploaded footage of his star-studded walkout to Instagram, with Drake’s “Underground Kings” playing in the background and the caption “All summer long.” This is the second major linkup between the 6 God and the two-time Grammy nominee. Wallen was his co-star in the “You Broke My Heart” music video from December 2023, but that link-up did not elicit nearly the backlash that this one did.

Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg reacted to Drake and Wallen’s linkup on X. “Come on man .. like what are you doing?! This is ridiculous,” he wrote. This vitriol is, of course, due to footage going viral of Wallen using the N word. In a follow-up tweet, he addressed the split responses he was receiving in his mentions.

“The worst thing about the drake kendrick battle is this new equally aggressive and ignorant drake defender crew on twitter who dont understand context,” Rosenberg said. “If I have to explain why hanging with [Morgan] Wallen is a bad look at this point in time – there’s no convo to be had.” He added another tweet in the thread: “I am not a drake hater … he is an all time great and i dont think he should be in some box for the rest of his career…f the battle…its over..i just want to see him make the right moves and get back.”

Unfortunately for Rosenberg, the same day he made this tweet (June 22), he celebrated introducing Tom Brady as the winner of Fanatics Games at Fanatics Fest. X users quickly pointed out the hypocrisy of this, as the NFL legend had also walked out with Wallen at one of his Las Vegas shows. Of course, Drake and Brady shouldn’t be held to the same standard concerning engaging with white men who say the N-word, but the users’ point still conveyed a double standard.
