Drake unleashed his $ome $exy $ongs 4 U joint album with PartyNextDoor today (Feb. 14), and certain lyrics already have fans engaging in discourse. The Valentine’s Day project was marketed as a body of work that would lean more into R&B and the ladies. However, that didn’t stop the Toronto rapper from referencing his infamous beef with Kendrick Lamar that unfolded during the second half of 2024.

On “GIMME A HUG,” Drizzy shouted out 21 Savage for being the only peer who consistently checked in on him, rapping, “Savage, you the only n**ga checkin’ on me when we really in some sh*t, brother.”

The rap beef has spawned several side battles after people allegedly started choosing sides, which were confirmed via Drake’s disdain with DeMar DeRozan, LeBron James-targeted track “Fighting Irish Freestyle,” rant about “people turning their backs,” and more. He even implied he no longer wants to work with DJ Khaled by denying his already-recorded features on the producer’s upcoming album. As his friend circle gets tighter, the “Pipe Down” rapper confirmed he’s still in good standing with 21.

Back in May, 21 Savage made it clear he did not want to be involved in the rap beef in any way and stated he will continue to remain on good terms with people on both sides of the war. “Bruh, aye, don’t keep comin’ on my muthaf**kin’ live talkin’ about no muthaf**kin’ beef,” 21 said. “Metro my brother and Drake my brother.”

“GIMME A HUG” specifically has caused quite a stir since its release, as the song also houses a shot at Joe Budden. Right after the 21 Savage line, the 6 God spits, “Melyssa Ford, you a legend from the 6, hate to see you with a d**k-sucker.” Although the bar attempts to mention Ford in an uplifting light, it places the legendary video vixen in the line of fire due to her role as Budden’s cohost on The Joe Budden Podcast.

He had smoke for Kendrick too elsewhere on the song, as he says, “Bulletproof doors so heavy, got me rolling ’round like a dignitary/ Funny how it’s only bitch n**gas that are waiting on The Boy’s obituary/ ‘Cause if I die, it’s these n**gas that become the sole beneficiary/ And what the f**k are they gon’ do with it?/ Have the girls up at 29 on stage twerking with a dictionary?”

$ome $exy $ongs 4 U contains guest features from Pim, China Pacas, and Yebba across 21 tracks. Take a listen above.
